    Consultancy Services

     

    Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin

    Worked with the whole Health Community, in partnership with colleague John MacDonald, to develop a clinically led and publically accepted service strategy.  Shropshire has two A & Es, a total population of c500k, and a history of poor relationships, especially with local politicians and stakeholders.  

     

    NHS Confederation

    I have been working with the Confederation to explore practical implementation of national policy on Vertical Integration, included a policy seminar with Director level DH input, drawing interesting, unexpected conclusions and leading to a forthcoming Confederation policy paper.

     

    NHS PST (Performance Spport Team)

     

    Support to several NHS Trusts (including aspiring FTs) and PCTs.  Both direct support and co-working, feedback based on tailored diagnostic processes, group facilitation, 1:1 coaching, client relationship management and peer review.  PST provided DH and SHA sponsored support to a small number of the hardest-pressed organisations in the NHS, always with multi-factorial issues, bringing key targets into sustained delivery while achieving financial control.  Provided support, directly or indirectly, to approximately 20 of the country’s most challenged organisations.

     

     

    Earlier Work

    Fitness for Purpose Development Plan for a challenged 1.1bn PCT, service modernisation and partnership work in hard-pressed health economies.  A review of the management of national Dental Policy for the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, resulting in a report seen by Ministers and influencing national policy.  With NatPaCT I worked on the interface between the national IT programme, Primary care and policy development in the DH during implementation of the GMS contract.

    Financial Services

     

    Ashton, Wigan and Leigh

    In one of the 6 national pilot sites for Community Foundation Trusts - working on Long Term Financial Model and Integrated Business Plan.

     

    5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust

    Led the Service Development Strategy and prepared capital business cases. Reviewed the Trust strategy in preparation for a Foundation Trust application and for the integrated Business Plan. 

     

    Birmingham Dental Hospital

    Developed a costed proposal to clear current waiting lists and to move to a sustained 5 week wait. Provided substantial challenge to reduce earlier estimates for the proposal.

     

    South Birmingham PCT

     

    Reviewed the corporate-level service and budget requirements of both the PCT and of its provider services in preparation for the Provider Arm of the PCT to move to Foundation Trust status in the context of a new structure.

     

    Coaching
